Job Purpose:

As Legal Counsel, you will be responsible for general legal advice and for assessing, negotiating and advising on various contracts within our group. You will be working in a stimulating environment in which you will have the opportunity to further develop yourself and contribute to the growth of our company. The legal team is fairly new and consists of 3 people, including you. You will contribute to the growth of the team and will be given a lot of room for your own input and independence.

We are looking for someone who is highly analytical and pragmatic. No memos, but practical advice. But legally on the cutting edge.

Responsibilities:

  • You assess, negotiate and advise on contracts within the various business units of the group. These can be commercial logistics or lease contracts as well as maintenance contracts and purchase contracts;
  • In consultation with the Legal Director, you draw up general terms and conditions and standard contracts within the various business units of the group and maintain them;
  • You have a role in providing legal advice and support for more legally complex claims;
  • You provide solicited and unsolicited legal advice to commercial and other departments within various business units of the group;
  • You will be responsible for improving legal awareness within the various business units of the group, for example by developing and providing internal training on legal topics, including contracting and general terms and conditions;
  • You develop and maintain good contacts with internal and external stakeholders;
  • You will develop improvements in procedures and standardization to increase the efficiency of legal support;
  • You will support the Legal Director in acting and advising in larger legal disputes.

Job requirements

Requirements:

  • You have a completed degree in Dutch law, a Master's degree in Corporate Law and/or Maritime & Transport Law or similar;
  • You have at least approximately 5 years of work experience in the legal profession or as a corporate lawyer with demonstrable experience in the logistics world and contract law or corporate law. Experience in railway law is an advantage;
  • Excellent command of the Dutch and English language, German is an advantage;
  • You are a good networker and can easily build and maintain internal and external relationships;
  • You are a true team player, who is also adept at working independently;
  • You are a real self-starter and want to make improvements where possible;
  • You thrive in a dynamic work environment where there is plenty to do. You have to be able to set your own priorities;
  • You have strong communication skills and show your determination when it counts. Moreover, you are eager to learn and ambitious.
